Privacy Violation

Most commonly used social networks will have a privacy violation reporting route should some of your personal information be shared without your consent. The question is, what constitutes personal data?

For social networking purposes, this could be:

• An image where you are identifiable
• Any ID document (passport, driving license)
• Banking details
• Home address
• Telephone numbers (if not available publicly elsewhere online and part of an ongoing harassment campaign)

However, it is worth mentioning that certain social media platforms, such as TikTok, have slightly different guidelines regarding sharing someone's images/ videos. As a main function of their platform, TikTok allows users to post their public videos either side-by-side or after a video from another creator on the platform, known as 'Duet' or 'Stitch'. This content does not violate their community guidelines unless the user displays harmful behaviour.
