Privacy Violations

  1. Harms
  2. Other Harmful Content
  3. Privacy Violations

Most commonly used social networks will have a privacy violation reporting route should some of your personal information be shared without your consent. The question is, what constitutes personal data?

For social networking purposes, this could be an image where you are identifiable, any ID document (passport, driving license), banking details and, in some cases, home address and telephone numbers if not available publicly elsewhere online and part of an ongoing harassment campaign.

However, it is worth mentioning that certain social media platforms, such as TikTok, have slightly different guidelines regarding sharing someone's images/ videos. As a main function of their platform, TikTok allows users to post their public videos either side-by-side or after a video from another creator on the platform, known as 'Duet' or 'Stitch'. This content does not violate their community guidelines unless the user displays harmful behaviour.

However, you are able to control who can duet or stitch your videos. This setting can be applied to all videos you have made, or individual ones. For instructions on how to do this, click here.
