  2. How do I Report Violence or Domestic Violence Online?

Most of the content that you see on social media is likely to be fun, interesting and informative.

There may, however, be times, when you come across more disturbing, and even violent, content online. This might include violent YouTube videos, graphic content depicting things such as beheading scenes and animal abuse, or updates describing domestic violence or violence in the workplace.

This type of content will inevitably raise a number of questions for the discerning social media user, such as: How can I stop seeing this on my feed? Is this illegal? Can I report this to the police? And, how do I report Internet crimes anyway?

If you are looking for answers to these questions, then don’t panic! There are places you can go for help and support. Violent content is not tolerated on social media sites and can be reported directly and anonymously to these platforms.

Any type of violence is against the law and should also be reported to the police. If you, or someone you know, has been the victim of violence, including domestic violence, additional support services are available.

Remember, if you are in immediate danger, call the police on 999 for assistance.
